EXPOSING THE TRUTH; ONE MINERAL FAKE, FRAUD OR FORGERY AT A TIME

SB 624, Senator Gloria Romero is working for lawyers, not YOU! Long Live Serpentine!

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

SB 624 is a bill that was originally introduced by Senator Gloria Romero of East Los Angeles to address issues in the subject of solid waste.
Landfills, trash, recycling; the glorious waste removal system at large. However, over time it morphed into a very different bill,
one that aims to remove the classification of “State Rock” to the family of minerals known as serpentine.
California State Bill 624 is BAD SCIENCE. Not all Serpentine contains Chrysotile

Serpentine is not the name of any one mineral, but rather the family of minerals that all share common traits in elemental structure, over 20 as of 2010.
There are all kinds of serpentine minerals deposited all over the earth, chrysotile is not found in all of the deposits. Many serpentine rich rocks contain no chrysotile,
even more damning is the lack of evidence that chrysotile has been responsible for even ONE death of a miner, while the risks of liquor, tobacco and automobiles can be seen daily.
(see Mindat.org – Serpentine Group)

REVISION HISTORY OF CA SB #624

INTRODUCED FEBRUARY 27TH, 2009
“Solid waste: garbage and refuse
disposal districts: governing board membership.
Existing law authorizes the formation of garbage and refuse
disposal districts under certain conditions, including that if the
district includes 2 or more cities that the legislative body of each
city within the district appoint one member to the governing board to
represent each incorporated city.”

REVISED IN SENATE APRIL 13TH, 2009
“The California Integrated Waste Management Act of 1989 establishes
an integrated waste management program administered by the
California Integrated Waste Management Board that requires each city,
county, and regional agency, if any, to develop a source reduction
and recycling element of an integrated waste management plan, which
is required to divert 50% of the solid waste subject to the element
from landfill disposal or transformation, through source reduction,
recycling, and composting activities.”

REVISED MAY 19TH, 2010 – CURRENT WORDING
“Existing law establishes various animals, vegetables, and minerals
as emblematic of the state and provide that serpentine is the
official state rock and lithologic emblem.
This bill would remove serpentine as the state rock and lithologic
emblem and would leave the state rock unspecified
. The bill would also make a statement of findings about serpentine
and its association with an increased risk of the cancer
mesothelioma.”

Asbestos Litigation has shown that companies in the past knew of the connections between the clouds of fine, crushed, processed,
amphibole asbestos minerals floating in the air and the frequent death of workers from mesothelimoa. Unlike the basically benign serpentine, the amphibole mineral amosite, (the fibrous variety of grunerite) is not only harmful, but visually terrifying to look at.
Amosite - You can tell it's bad to breathe in by looking at it!
In Penge, South Africa, this truly dangerous mineral, was abundantly mined and processed.
The workers in Penge were in the open pit mine, pulling out huge veins of amosite, sometimes over 30cm long and up to a meter thick. The children would be sliding down the declines of the pit on empty burlap sacks while the women would be given the task of filling the sacks with crushed amosite at the end of the production line.
If you can imagine the sheer volume of deadly amphibole shards in the air it wouldn’t be hard to understand that mesothelimoa destroyed so many thousands of people over several decades.

Asbestos litigation in situations like that were fairly straight forward. When people mine amphibole asbestos they often develop cancer.
There were no amphibole mines in California, however amphibole asbestos was used frequently for industrial purposes.
Finding companies liable for damages to workers and people living in the area fair and just, but with all of the asbestos mines closed, the companies bankrupt and options running out,
how do you continue to feed the civil courts with asbestos lawsuits?

Expand the definition of asbestos! SB 624 does just that.
If SB 624 passes, the following will be the language in the state legislation…

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. The Legislature finds and declares the following:
(a) Serpentine was designated the official State Rock in 1965 and
is found in 49 counties in California.
(b) Serpentine contains the deadly mineral chrysotile asbestos, a
known carcinogen, exposure to which increases the risk of the cancer
mesothelioma.

(c) California has the highest rate of mesothelioma deaths in the
nation.
(d) California should not designate a rock known to be toxic to
the health of its residents as the state’s official rock.

What the bill is actually doing is making the non-fact, “Serpentine contains the deadly mineral chrysotile asbestos,…” a term that can be actionable in court.
That means that they could start tort on crushed stone quarries that mined chrysotile free Serpentine, on cities that had crushed serpentine stone used as road foundation, or used in break walls in the ocean.
State agencies can then close down anything that has to do with serpentine.

That means that they could start tort on anyone who has SERPENTINE around! How about the main library in downtown los angeles?
We have a HUGE serpentine boulder in a fountain with a cool lizard sculpture.
California State Bill 624 is BAD SCIENCE. Not all Serpentine contains Chrysotile
Should we have that removed? Are lawyers going to sue THE LIBRARY! Disgusting!
How about some favorite hiking and fishing locations? Look forward to more land closures all over our once free state!
State agencies can then close down anything that has to do with serpentine, all because of the crap science used by the “asbestos awareness” groups, which are nothing but fronts for asbestos litigation. What a gross misuse of politics!

Asbestos has both Democrats and Republicans afraid to vote against it, because…ASBESTOS!!! What about the science? Where are the bodies of the dead from chrysotile? There were massive amounts of death at any mine that produced
amphibole asbestos in the past. There were none of these mines in California. There were massive amounts of death from ship builders and construction workers because of exposure to amphibole asbestos, but we have no record of deaths like these due to chrysotile!
So where does this fear come from? Stupidity. Lack of education. An unwillingness to learn.
California State Bill 624 is BAD SCIENCE. Not all Serpentine contains Chrysotile

More business for asbestos removal companies and all because of a basic lack of knowledge about minerals.

In our society when something is being pushed through the government that has few if any benefits for the citizen, there always something to be gained by the sponsors of the bill.

We can see that many of the sponsors listed on the bill are lawyers who specialize in asbestos litigation and groups representing the industrial workers who used refined industrial asbestos.
California State Bill 624 choses lawyers over SCIENCE.
Serpentine from San Benito Mountins, California

It is a scientific fact, not all deposits of serpentine rocks contain the asbestos form variety of the mineral chrysotile. Just look at the small amount of places where serpentine minerals are found, many of them are locations where no fibrous chrysotile is present.
(See Mindat.org – Serpentine Locations in California)

If this bill passes, a specimen of serpentine will be classified under the same regulations as the lone mineral chrysotile.

Lawsuits, hazard cleanup, more regulations. This bill is nothing but legal wording aiming to make more money via civil tort for lawyers who specialize in asbestos litigation.

It is easy to scoff at the idea that serpentine is of any importance as the state stone, but you also might not be aware that the bold beauty of California is made richer by the serpentine deposits that make up a large portion of the state.
Serpentine soils produce wildlife that is adapted to the soil and plant life.
Wildflowers, San Benito Mountains
In addition the colorful spectrum of wild flowers that come out every spring, only in serpentine rich soil, serpentine has every right to be California’s state rock.
If you live in California, make a stink about this with your representatives, news media and anyone who will listen.

Azeztulite, will it ever die?

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Azeztulite. One of the most foolish scams on the mineral world. Not only are people buying shards of the most common mineral on earth for several dollars per carat, the scam just keeps getting bigger!

One of the reasons I even bother to bring this point up is that I’m seeing all of these variations (all trademarked) whenever the scamsters find enough of a supply to warrant new names.

I was viewing an eBay seller’s account and I saw this nugget, mixed into an account full of interesting minerals…

Golden Azeztulite

When this shameful scam will end, nobody can know. We certainly hope it is sooner than later. Azeztulite is broken quartz shards, devoid of worth.

Azeztulite – It is nothing but JUNK QUARTZ!

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Azeztulite is nothing but plain old Quartz, one of the most common minerals in the entire world. I could take you to thousands of locations where junk Quartz is laying all over the ground. But you wouldn’t bother picking it up. Not unless you were planning on putting a “special name” on it so you could sell it for $5.00 a carat!

That’s right, one more time for anyone who wasn’t listening.

Azeztulite is nothing but Quartz.

Ok, so I was following links to this site and I saw someone posted a link, but they messed up and wrote FakeCrystals.com, instead of FakeMinerals.com. I certainly wouldn’t want anyone to be mixed up, so I went to register that domain name.

But someone else beat me to it. So, I figured, let’s find out who and see what they are using it for! It would be great to have a new fighter on our side, another person serving as a light bringer. Whoot.

Nope. Go to http://fakecrystals.com

It is now owned by ONE of the WORST on the WEB, http://mountaingems.net, a site that talks about crystal healing and other metaphysical mumbo-jumbo. Getting ready for a Spirit Quest? Look no further than MountainGems.net! MountainGems.net been getting tons of common Brazilian junk and cheaply made Brazilian Chakra kits (I can say all this, as **I** worked for SEVERAL YEARS supplying these sellers while I was manager of a wholesale company…I placed the orders FROM the Brazilian dealers who make this stuff, so we could sell it to people like her.)

So, she registered FakeCrystals.com as a retort to FakeMinerals.com doing a proper hit piece on the overall SCAM that is Azeztulite.

Let me blow her counter claim right out of the water…

“First of all there is a huge difference between the Metaphysical World and that of mineral collectors. Just because we in the healing and enlightened community have “named” our healing stones and crystals for our own use does not make them fake.”

Afraid not. You see, that might work fine when you do something such as call Anhydrite “Angelite”. There is no difference in value to massive Anhydrite rough and the trade name Angelite. That is, you would get the same amount of money for a one pound chunk of light blue Anhydrite as you would a one pound chunk of light blue Angelite. It is the same thing and the same price. You don’t get charged more for the Metaphysical name, Angelite. So, have at it. Use Angelite all you want.

That’s not the case with Azeztulite. Let me make it clear. The reason our little cold black scientific hearts get all agitated with these idiots is that they think that taking a WORTHLESS item, such as junk Quartz and slapping a new name and story on it, they can take a WORTHLESS item and sell it for several dollars PER CARAT!

No.

We will do everything in our power to make sure that the thought that junk Quartz can be re-branded and sold as a premium is stamped out all across the world. We will destroy your lies and your myth and all you’ll be left with is the wads of cash you’ve taken from people…use that to wipe up your tears.

I promise all of you Metaphysical dealers. All of you who think you can just slap names onto rocks and charge 10x the normal max retail price. You’re going to LOVE Tucson!

And my new website,
Http://www.FakeAzeztulite.com

Pwned.

And thank you to all the metaphysical dealers out there who are actually very honest and up front with their customers and don’t buy into this whole fake rock thing. Your e-mails are very much appreciated!

Charging more for a mineral because it will heal you…

Here is an auction for a Marcasite specimen from England, around $4.00 US.

I hate Fake Rocks!

Certainly nothing wrong with that specimen above. However, let’s take a peek at this auction, with a very similar looking specimen…

I hate Fake Rocks!

This auction has a Marcasite from the same location as the one above it, is only SLIGHTLY bigger (4mm) and is $70.00 more! I believe that it is certainly a nicer specimen but one could postulate that the much higher starting price is certainly due to the target audience it is being sold to. The cheaper one is being sold to the mineral collector market, people who collect minerals for whatever reason. The second one is marketed to the Metaphysical community, people who believe that minerals will have some kind of miraculous effect to them. If anyone tries to sell you something because it will DO something for you, shop around to make sure you are not buying something fairly common for a much higher premium.

Thanks to reader David B. for sending in that one! Feel free to e-mail me at Justin@the-vug.com to submit photos and links!

Azeztulite, the story of Common Quartz sold for Astronomical Prices!

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Azeztulite

It is not the name of a mineral, but rather the TRADEMARKED made up name used to scam people all over the world into paying rediculous prices for a material that makes up 12% of the entire earth’s crust!

That’s right…Azeztulite is Quartz. Plain, ordinary Quartz. Get this, the material sold by the company that coined the name is Quartz that you couldn’t normally even give away. Stuff that people don’t even pick up when they are out mineral collecting.

It is truly horrible. The company who started the scam are hitting multiple people! First off, the people who are buying it directly from them. You can be sure that a large amount of these first level sales are to people who fancy themselves eBay dealers and metaphysical store owners. Then, the prices are raised even higher (and the original company already sells the stuff for asine prices) and the items are moved on down the line to the metaphysical buyer. By this time, the price of a clear faceted Quartz in a simple setting will set you back around $70.00. Well, the same faceted Quartz in a simple setting will cost you no more than $10.00 from most dealers, less than half that when buying in bulk. So, the first company buys these things for around $5.00;sells them to some unknowledgeable eBay dealer for $35.00 and poor ol’ you shells out $70.00 for this thing.

It gets worse now…

Dealers who are smarter than the metaphysical dealers have found that there are plenty of people with more money than smarts and started selling plain polished Quartz from Brazil as Azeztulite. Simple Quartz that might sell for around $15-$20 will sell for nearly three times that amount when sold as Azeztulite! They are selling material by the Kilo, by the TON!

Well, we have established just what Azeztulite is…plain ol’ simple common Quartz.
We have also showed you just why the name was created to bump the prices of this worthless item into a very profitable item.

I need to explain why they came up with the name Azeztulite. Well, the company that came up with this colorful myth state that this material was named as such after contact with the alien race of “Azez”. The material is commonly said to come from North Carolina and Vermont. Well, guess what? There is not a single country in the world that doesn’t have Quartz; save for maybe Malta and Nauru. Vatican City anyone?

But why, how and when did them come up with this foolishness?

There were multiple sources of information I gathered over the past few years which led up to the formation of Azeztulite.

The first one was a comical story, involving a field collector who was prospecting out in the far northwest part of America. He found some small clear shards of material he believed to be Phenakite. Well, nobody buys Phenakite shards except for Metaphysical dealers, so he took these shards of mineral to one of the largest metaphysical selling outfits. Well, they bought the material from this field collector as Phenakite and started selling the material as such. After a couple months our inquisitve field collector gets the results back from the lab that tested this material – it turned out to be a clear feldspar. So he contacted Nirvana and Terra and told them of the mistake. Well, what did they do about all that Feldspar sold as Phenakite?

In a completely different setting I was chatting with one of my Metaphysical dealer friends and educating her on some of the fake junk she was buying, like colored glass as Obsidian and white moldavite. She then told me about this Phenakite she had bought from this company that was not actually Phenakite but a brand new mineral called Azeztulite! She was so excited that she got such a great deal…Azeztulite for the price of Phenakite shards (Sold by the gram no less) She immediatly wanted to order more of it. She gave me a sample of this material to keep and a few months later she gave me a piece of Azeztulite from her new shipment. The first piece she gave me;clear feldspar. The second piece;broken Quartz.

Is it possible that a company could take this faux pau and turn it into something that would make them a small fortune?

Click on some of these pictures to get a great overview of the fraud that is Azeztulite…

I hate Fake Rocks!

Below here check out these “Azeztulite” angels! They would sell for no more than $24.00 for the pair, retail, if you were lucky. But this person wants $140.00 for the pair…because…you know…they are “Azeztulite”!

I hate Fake Rocks!

How much is this worth as Quartz? Maybe $20.00…max!

I hate Fake Rocks!

Here is my buddy Crystalline Rainbow, showing the REAL DEAL material, from Robert Simmons, owner of some company called Heaven and Earth…

I hate Fake Rocks!

Unfortunatly, I don’t think Rob get’s a cut out of these sales…just some chump jumping on the Azeztulite bandwagon!

I hate Fake Rocks!

Oh, and just in case we ever run out of junk quartz from Vermont and North Carolina…and the millions of tons of Indian and Brazilian Quartz sold as such…well, here is a “new” find of Quartz!…er…I mean…Azeztulite! Woot!

I hate Fake Rocks!

And…ps…Azeztulite.com…now that’s funny!
